As the only Catholic Church in Limestone County, our faith community reflects the ethnic diversity of the towns in which we live. We gather to fulfill our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ: we hear His Word, we celebrate the Sacraments and we witness His love to others. Our Christian witness consists of sharing our spiritual gifts with the grace of God and the example and prayers of our patron saint, the Immaculate Conception, among us and with others - striving to grow in Holiness.

HOLY THURSDAYHOLY THURSDAY EVENING, Exodus 12:1-8.11-14, 1 Cor 11:23-26, John 13:1-15
Today’s celebration goes way back to the Old Testament. We commemorate that day that the children of Israel were spared from the death of their firstborn males. Today begins the Easter Triduum. The Most sacred days in the life of the Church. The Easter Triduum comprises: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. In the Sacred Triduum, the Church solemnly celebrates the greatest mysteries of our redemption, keeping by special celebrations the memorial of her Lord, crucified, buried, and risen. It is quite interesting because at the beginning of the Mass the Gloria is sung with bells jingling. This indicates the joyful celebration of the institution of the Holy Eucharist. Gloria is not sung again until Holy Saturday vigil Mass. Today the Church celebrates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Priesthood. Both Sacraments are given to the Church for the service of the people of God. The Eucharist makes the Church, and the Church makes the Eucharist through the power of the Priesthood. The Lord gave us this awesome Sacrament as a memorial of his Passover. This Sacrament unites the Church perfectly with the Lord. To perpetuate this sacrifice of the new Covenant, the Lord in his wisdom gave us the Eucharist. Priesthood is given for the service of the people. We see Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. Jesus' washing of their feet is a sacred act which symbolizes purifying them just as baptism does. It is purification to prepare them to share the 'Bread of life' at the table of the Lord. The Church has the singular mandate to proclaim the kingdom of Christ for the Salvation of souls. The priestly ministry is both prophetic, and kingly. The priest has the duty to break the word and the Eucharist. The ministry of the Priesthood is intrinsically connected with the celebration of the Eucharist. The scripture tells us: "Every high priest is chosen among men and made their representative before God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins," Heb 5:1. The priest remain human and weak like everyone.
The duty of the priest is the proclamation of the Word of God for the Salvation of souls, Mark 16:15-16. The Sacrament of Holy Order is directed towards the Salvation of others, CCC # 1534. This is part of the prophetic mission of the priest. The Priesthood is the Sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of the time, CCC # 1536. Through the office of the Priesthood, the Sacraments of Baptism, confession, Anointing of The Sick among others are exercised. The power of forgiveness of sins is given, Jonn 20:23. The priest exercises the kingly power of leading the people of God. The Lord told Peter three times to feed his sheep, John 21:15-19.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian life. The Eucharist contains the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely, Christ himself, our Pasch, CCC # 1324. Through the Eucharist we are perfectly united with Christ. The Eucharist is food for the journey to heaven. It is food of the Angels. We are strengthened and empowered through worthy reception of the Eucharist. Therefore, the Priesthood and the Eucharist are Sacraments of charity and love. There are three lessons for us in this gospel passage: service in the community, humility, and mercy. These shine forth in the gesture of feet washing.
NOTE: Please, do not be too quick to go home after mass. Try to spend some quiet moment in adoration before Jesus who is present under the appearance of Bread in the Ciborium.
TARDE DE JUEVES SANTO, Éxodo 12,1-8.11-14, 1 Cor 11,23-26, Juan 13,1-15
La celebración de hoy se remonta al Antiguo Testamento. Conmemoramos ese día en que los hijos de Israel se salvaron de la muerte de sus primogénitos varones. Hoy comienza el Triduo Pascual. Los días más sagrados en la vida de la Iglesia. El Triduo Pascual comprende: Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo y Sábado Santo. En el Sagrado Triduo, la Iglesia celebra solemnemente los mayores misterios de nuestra redención, guardando con celebraciones especiales el memorial de su Señor crucificado, sepultado y resucitado. Es bastante interesante porque al comienzo de la Misa se canta el Gloria con tintineo de campanas. Esto indica la celebración gozosa de la institución de la Sagrada Eucaristía. No se vuelve a cantar el Gloria hasta la Misa de vigilia del Sábado Santo. Hoy la Iglesia celebra la institución de la Sagrada Eucaristía y el Sacerdocio. Ambos Sacramentos son entregados a la Iglesia para el servicio del pueblo de Dios. La Eucaristía hace a la Iglesia, y la Iglesia hace la Eucaristía mediante el poder del Sacerdocio. El Señor nos dio este maravilloso Sacramento como memorial de su Pascua. Este Sacramento une perfectamente a la Iglesia con el Señor. Para perpetuar este sacrificio de la nueva Alianza, el Señor en su sabiduría nos regaló la Eucaristía. El sacerdocio se otorga para el servicio del pueblo. Vemos a Jesús lavando los pies de sus discípulos. El lavado de los pies por Jesús es un acto sagrado que simboliza su purificación tal como lo hace el bautismo. Es purificación prepararlos para compartir el 'Pan de vida' en la mesa del Señor. La Iglesia tiene el mandato singular de proclamar el reino de Cristo para la salvación de las almas. El ministerio sacerdotal es a la vez profético y real. El sacerdote tiene el deber de romper la palabra y la Eucaristía. El ministerio del Sacerdocio está intrínsecamente conectado con la celebración de la Eucaristía. La Escritura nos dice: "Todo sumo sacerdote es elegido entre los hombres y constituido su representante ante Dios, para ofrecer presentes y sacrificios por los pecados", Hebreo 5:1. El sacerdote sigue siendo humano y débil como todos.
El deber del sacerdote es la proclamación de la Palabra de Dios para la Salvación de las almas, Marcos 16:15-16. El Sacramento del Santo Orden está dirigido a la Salvación de los demás, CCC # 1534. Esto es parte de la misión profética del sacerdote. El Sacerdocio es el Sacramento a través del cual se continúa ejerciendo en la Iglesia hasta el fin de los tiempos la misión encomendada por Cristo a sus apóstoles, CCC # 1536. A través del oficio del Sacerdocio, los Sacramentos del Bautismo, confesión, Unción de Los Los enfermos entre otros se ejercitan. Se da el poder del perdón de los pecados, Juan 20:23. El sacerdote ejerce el poder real de dirigir al pueblo de Dios. El Señor le dijo a Pedro tres veces que alimentara a sus ovejas, Juan 21:15-19.
La Eucaristía es fuente y cumbre de nuestra vida cristiana. La Eucaristía contiene todo el bien espiritual de la Iglesia, es decir, Cristo mismo, nuestra Pascua, CCC # 1324. Por la Eucaristía estamos perfectamente unidos con Cristo. La Eucaristía es alimento para el camino al cielo. Es alimento de los Ángeles. Somos fortalecidos y empoderados a través de la recepción digna de la Eucaristía. Por tanto, el Sacerdocio y la Eucaristía son Sacramentos de caridad y de amor. Hay tres lecciones para nosotros en este pasaje del evangelio: servicio en la comunidad, humildad y misericordia. Estos brillan en el gesto del lavado de los pies.
